Heinke award - 2006

Totnes BSAC have won the coveted Heinke Trophy award for 2006
The Heinke Trophy is the Club's premier award. It was donated
to the BSAC in 1958 by the old established British diving firm of
Heinke, which had been making high quality hard-hat diving equipment
for many years and had then developed its own special range of diving
apparatus.
On 1st July 2006 we received a letter from George Brookes (chief
adjudicator of the Heinke award) who informed us of our award.
We quote:
"Adjudication of the Heinke Trophy Award for 2006 has now been
completed and I am very pleased to tell you that the Adjudicators
have determined that Totnes branch is this year’s winner of
the Trophy. I should particularly like to mention some pleasing
aspects of your entry:
- Well organised entry submitted on attractive specially
designed pages·
- Large amount of relevant supporting information
- sensibIy given as appendices to the entry
- Thorough
analysis of membership from a questionnaire to members
on branch activities
- Ample
information to members including day-to-day by email,
special new members pack
- Range of skill development and diver
qualifications, including 5 First Class
- Over 2000
individual dives at over 100 dive sites performed
during 2005
- All
planned dives documented and subject to risk assessment
against prepared criteria
- Strong social program, money from
fund raising activities donated to local charities
